Resource Intensity of Cities

Resource Intensity of Cities is an interactive map showing various indicators of resource usage in major US cities. The example above shows Boston. The frame of analysis containing a heatmap visualization, can be moved to any region around the city simply by dragging. On the right, there are graphs depicting materials usage, energy usage and population density, and these variables can be depicted on the heatmap. Each variable can be normalized by number of persons or households. The map was created using mostly based on open-source software and is written using JavaScript on a google map.
