Carbon Sequestration Map

The Carbon Sequestration Map application is an online tool that allows the user to investigate the effects an area of interest has on climate change. The tool enables the user to draw polygons on a Google Map containing a vector and raster layers related to carbon levels and forest status. Based on the polygon’s area of interest, certain metrics are calculated and displayed on a sidebar. Many queries can be made, and a summary provides a combination of all the queries. The map is built using such tools as jQuery, JavaScript and HTML5. Interestingly, the CBD Secretariat, LifeWeb and UNEP-WCMC (the makers behind the tool) call it a “Report”.
