The Great Britain Journey-to-Work Flows map is a visualization of trips made between residences to workplaces in 2001. The map shows different colours for different modes of transportation (blue = auto, red = transit, green = walking). The map is basically a desire lines map, with a single straight line connecting an origin to its destination. What is not apparent here is the location of the household or workplace. Nevertheless, the use of short desire lines at the scale of a country is effective in visualizing connection and concentration of trips.
