Map Your Moves displays the locations from and to which New Yorkers moved in a highly visually appealing manner. The web app actually does not use a map, but instead uses a cartogram-like assortment of circles (not in the image above) to show the full extent of moves from and to New York (indicated by the large white circle). Clicking on one of the circles visualizes connections to other locations with slightly curved lines, coloured according to moves to (blue) or out of (red) New York. On the right, the main reasons for the move and historical data are visualized, with a grey bar or line demarcating the overall average (a point of comparison).
The application uses Flash and is a great example of origin destination visualization with a large amount of additional data associated, displayed with a simple but powerful theme.
