Mapping America: Every City, Every Block

Mapping America is a tool that allows users to investigate and examine various figures from the American Community Survey. The tool makes very effective use of the dot density technique in showing multiple dimensions on the same map. Here, the technique is used to show the relative amount of different races within each zone, giving the viewer a clear sense of an area’s racial borders. In combination, choropleth maps were used to visualize nation level statistics such as median income and level of education. This map was built with Adobe Flash.
