Bikeplanner is a recent web application that allows users to map out and analyze their bike paths in Washington D.C. To use the tool, the user merely clicks a start and end point, and the application calculates the pathway. Along with this, the user is given metrics about the bike ride, relating to how quick the ride will be, how flat the path is and how bike friendly the roads are. The tool utilizes leaflet, a JavaScript library for map-making. The creation also utilizes OpenStreetMap data, is powered by OpenTripPlanner and is a collaboration between OpenPlans, Mobility Lab, BikeArlington and MapBox.
