Livehoods is a project by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University which utilizes twitter and foursquare check-ins to visualize areas of similar function or attraction. Individual geolocated check-ins are clustered based on their area and proximity to other check-ins, giving areas of shared activity – so called “Livehoods”. The map gives hourly and daily trends, as well as check-ins divided by type. The check-ins are visualized by dots, while the areas are shown as transparent polygons. The tool utilizes the Google Map API with a light pastel colour scheme.
